Default No reverse lights

Hi, my truck failed inspection for no reverse lamps, I pulled the bulbs and the fuses and they're good. I tried to look at the neutral safety switch but I can't even get the electrical connecter off, I can find any tab that releases it. Anyone have an idea what it is and or how I can remove the switch.

Yes , the only way I can get the lights on is if I put it in R and push the shift lever on the tranny to the rear of the truck but as soon as I let go the lever moves back and turns off the lights

Adjust the P/N switch on the trans. Its right where the shift linkage goes in.

No idea. And it's cold out, so I'm not gonna look either. (I hate winter, you would think I would be smart enough to move to a warmer climate, but OOoohhhhh Nnnoooooo. Not me......)

There are some bushings and such in the linkage that like to wear out. Those can make it kinda sloppy. You shouldn't be able to pull it out of park without pulling the lever back toward you..... if you can, something is awry. (but, I don't think its really critical to fix.)

Worst case is just replace the switch, they aren't really expensive, and are fairly easy to get to.... provide you have a warm, dry place to work on it.
