The bolts are little tiny fellers, you would have REAL hard time even drilling if for an easy out. Be easier just to drill it out completely. Pull the cap, lay on top of the motor, and see if there is any bolt left you can get a grip on. If there is, hit it with some chemicals, and see if you can work it loose. Don't turn the dist. Don't even loosen the clamp.

If the head of the bolt broke off and you can get the bolt on the other side out, can you not pull the dist cap off and then put some vice grips or something on what's left of the bolt (along with some penetrating oil) and hopefully remove the bolt? Or do I have a wrong mental picture of what's going on...? I suppose if you crossed zip ties over the dist cap in an X, it might work, but I'd do that as a last resort.

lol mines been held on that way since before I owned it.... I thank god for the body lift because without it the cap is damn near impossible to get to... I think its contributing to my recent misfire codes..
What does the plenum have to do with the distributor? Are you suggesting he fix the distributor out while he has the plenum torn out?...
might be a good idea if he has a bad gasket... I know I dont.. yet

If you can't grip it, drill it. If you can't drill it, replace it. If you no wanna replace it, leave it. Sounds like its doing ok for the last few months, though.

Im glad someone thinks like me. If its not causing a problem right now just leave it be untill you decide or have to do the plenum. Then once doing the plenum it will be all apart and much easier to get to and make your repair.
