I was just curious, iv been kicking the ball around about getting a good programmer for my Ram. One that adds most horsepower, torque, MPG. Also if i could change tire size, shift points and stuff like that. The one thing i would really like is one that decodes and erases trouble codes. Thanks for any info and experience.
SCT tuner is considered 'the best' by folks here. It will read/erase codes as well, but, it WON'T allow changes for tire size, and shift points are controlled by which tune you install. Not user adjustable. I don't think there is one that will let you do shift points..... Unless you spend a couple hundred dollars more, and start customizing your own tunes....
SCT tuner is probably your best bet. You can correct your speedometer by changing out the gear to compensate for a larger tire/gear change if im not mistaken.
The main reason i want the tire size adjustment is because im pretty sure that im off by 5 mph. lol
This may be a stupid noob question but I've heard it answered both ways, but do larger tires throw the speedo off plus or minus 5mph or whatever it may be?

You can't change the gear for the speedometer....it is a hall effect sensor on the tranny. And changing gears in the rear end is an expensive fix for speed correction - and not sure it would be correct. Only a tuner that would allow for this will give accurate data.

So there is no speedo gear on the 46re that could be changed? Ive got no experience with these transmissons at all but I have always read/heard that you can change out the speedometer gear to compensate for a change in tire size/ axle gear change on other vehicles.
