HOLY SHAT!! mine asnt that bad, but had a few rust spots that were seeping.... ill try to get a pic of the oil pan today, along with the old oil pickup tube to show how disgustingly clogged it was.

 

Inside of mine was absolutely a thing of beauty when I dropped it.

 

Wow, that IS nice and clean. Even the pickup tube. Evidently it has been well cared for.

 

wow! wish mine was that clean, SADLY.... mine was pretty dirty in there.... maybe it was due to the oil needing to be changed.

Z what brand and weight oil, and filter do you use??

 

I only did one oil change with Mobil 1, Wix filter and quart of Rislone as always at that point. So I'm lucky that the PO took care of that part of it anyway.

BTW, I use Valvoline dino now.

 

Do you need to jack up the engine on a 01 4x4? Anyone have an prior experience with it?

 

Nope. There is enough clearance to pull the pan without touching the motor mounts. Just gotta wiggle it a bit.

 

i didnt have to move the engine up at all, nor did i have to move the y pie either.

didnt have to wiggle mine at all. just drop it down about an inch and carefully slide it out. kinda a pain, but well worth it in the end!

 

Ok thanks, I'm doing the plenum and related parts so I'll be pulling the y pipe anyways. Should I go for the high output oil pump?

 

Mine had a 165K miles on it, so, it seemed like a good idea to go with a high volume pump.
