Does it engage all the way? I guess the "posi" in that name isn't quite as accurate as it could be...... There really shouldn't be any lateral stress on it......

You can screw the **** in or out to adjust the cable. But the **** needs to be in a certain position before adjusting the cable down by the CAD. A little detail that is left out of the crappy directions. Needless to say, someone else on DF owns my Posi crap I mean Lok.

The idea is, put it in 4x4 BEFORE you really need it.

I'd be the fellow member that owns zmans posi lock lol. I screw mine in and out. I always lock the front axle in while slightly rolling before I go through anything. That way if I need it I can just pull the do not get stuck lever back.

Oh yea it's you. It worked fine, I just didn't like having to do something else. When keeping up with the Vac lines is easy. Plus I don't wheel.

+1 on this, i'm guessing on direction - but try screwing the adjustment in, so the cable pulls the fork MORE to the drivers side for deeper engagement of the collar onto the intermediate shaft.

for anyone with difficult engagement of the collar - this will occur irregardless of vac or cable operation. tight is tight. the collar slide can be tight due to either bushing/bearing misalignment at the axle half junction, or due to burrs on the axle splines or collar. you have to pull the outer axle out a little to get to the small bushing or collar. you have to pull it all the way out to get the damn inner axle half out. you can remove burrs with a small file. if it slides back and forth easily with finger pressure, then the cad mechanism can work right. if it doesn't slide easily with finger pressure, then the cad won't work worth a flip either.
