Default Horrible Winter Gas Mileage

I know this has probably been covered before, but the search doesnt work the greatest.

I have 98 1500 with a 5.9. My last tank was 85L and was only 212km of city driving.
What could cause such terrible mileage?
I was told by the previous owner that he replaced the plenum gasket in the past. Whether he put in the upgraded plate, I do not know.

Are there any issues that would be worse in cold weather that could cause this?

Corey

It's about 6 mpg. The truck has always done bad on gas, but I've really noticed it since the cold weather. I think before winter is did about 12 mpg.

How many miles on it? Have you fixed the plenum yet? How old are the O2 sensors? Might try getting gas someplace else as well...

So, you're driving a 5.9L 4x4 and you're complaining about bad gas mileage. Seriously?

It has 190k km, so about 118k miles.
The plugs, wires, cap/rotor, and coil were all repalced last year before I bought it. I'm not sure about he 02 sensors, might be my first plan of attack.

I just filled it up at a different gas station, so we'll see if that makes a difference.

I don't expect great gas milage, but 6 mpg?

you can only bite your tongue so hard.......yes....6 mpg's is bad and should not be expected from these trucks......just check the usual tune up components and your plenum gasket.......as my last resort trying to get back my 3-4 mpgs that I have lost, I am trying the Startron fuel treatment.
