Thumbs down 98 belt chirp

98 2500 with 360 @ 240k

in the spring i replaced the water pump due to a bad bearing. Prior to this the truck kept eating belts due to about .75" of play in the water pump pulley (no leaks) I replaced the pump, put on a Gates tensioner, idler pulley, and Dayco belt. Life was good for about a month when the water outlet developed a leak so I put in a new outlet, t-stat, and gasket. The belt chirped for awhile I am assuming to spillage of anti-freeze, but since I had a lifetime warranty i changed the belt and all was good again for a couple weeks. The hose at the top of the radiator must have died and i got a slight leak, so i used a worm gear hose clamp instead of the pinch clamp, but that got the belt wet again with anti-freeze so once again i changed it. Now I have chirp again, but I have looked all over and I do not see any signs of leaks. I saw another thread about pully alignment so I am going to check that tomorrow. I do notice the belt tracks to the rear of the pully. I wondered if anyone else has seen this. NOTE: I always washed the anti-freeze off of the vehicle, I know some people simply let it dry - not me. So I know it is not the fan blowing residual on the belt, but maybe there was some anti-freeze on the pully's still causing some glazing?

the belt feels dry and all but leaves residue on my hand similar to when you rub your fingers over oily bolt threads

I had a leaking water pump for a while which was causing a belt chirp/squeal.. I replaced the water pump and started the truck to gear the same thing and I narrowed it down to the idler pulley is on its way out. Hope this helps ya some. Take a good look at all the pulleys and maybe put some kind of chemical on them just to rule them out from squeaking. If that dont work maybe try a new belt

Squirt some WD-40 at the pulleys, that should tell ya which one is the culprit.

Maybe the power steering pump seals are leaking. However, you never know what road grime goes through your grille when following a semi. That could be the reason for the feeling. They lick up a lot of grime from the road. Some of which is oil!

i notice my radiator jug is running a little low - its got to be anti-freeze leaking from somewhere but I cant find it. Also when I swapped the thermostat I put a 180* stat in, I am going to switch it back. What your thoughts?

The bypass hose, or water pump weep hole (right under the pulley, where you can't possibly see it...) are common places for that hard to find leak.
