yeah some of the prices are NUTS. I found another entire fuel pump for $85 shipped. I think ill try that also. I have 3 trucks so itll be used at some point.
I checked with the dealership last year for a rear axle for a 2001 Dakota sport 4X4. I think they said it was about $3000!! yeah the dakota only had 26K on it and the rear end went out. It was babied and highly maintained so I think the dealer should have looked into it and got him a new one BUT he vowed never to buy a new dodge again and I found him a used low mileage axle for $200. yeah take that too GEIKO!

Don't do that. You will be replacing your 85 dollar fuel pump again, within the year. Get a GOOD brand, A/C Delco, Delphi, etc. They run in the 200 dollar neighborhood yeah, but, you replace it once, and you are done. It doesn't become a yearly exercise.

what honestly wears out on the fuel pump? just the sending unit or ? ive never had to replace one and I have 200+K on one and 117K on the other. The new winter beater is one getting one because the guage shows full but the low fuel light is on and thats having 3/4 tank of gas.

Pump, sending unit, check valves, etc. Everything wears out over time. Some folks just have better luck than others.

Edit: Could be the sensor or possibly a loose wire.
I have the same issue, along with gross emissions leak I haven't found. Then last week my motor died, pulled apart and piston pieces everywhere. Hopefully the gas issue isn't actually a prob. In the process of getting replacement motor now. Did you fix your gauge issue?
