Odd problem HELP
Will I see how to open the TPS once I get it off?
Don't open it. Just remove connector and measure conductors. I cannot remember the ohms value, but it should smoothly increas or decrease. Also, on the white/purple wire to TPS, the reference voltage should be 5v and be steady when you checked voltage.
Your voltage readings were within range, but you low is a little hig (could be as low as 0.5, and high can be up to about 4.5. Checking ohms to see if there is a dead spot in the potentiometer will make sure it is good. You are lloking for a smooth change - as smooth as you can rotate shaft.

I don't like using digital meters for these tests, as they have a built in 'smoothing' function. They don't react instantly to subtle changes...... With a needle sweeping a gauge, any variances are immediately noticeable. A TPS that tests good with a digital meter, may test bad with an analog meter. I have seen it happen more than once.
