Most I've seen say roller but don't remember the ones I looked into specifically .

Local guy and friend of my parents said 850 total for labor and would have to add fluids and such. Great deal in my eyes.

He orders his motors from lkq out of Houston. Said he dealt with others before and was constantly replacing. Never has since switching to them. I can't find much online about them. And the price tag is 2450 with 3 yr unlimited mile parts and labor warranty. For that price I figured I would pay 400 more and get a jasper and have the peace of mind knowing of everyone else's success. Not sure which route to go. Trust this guy or pick my own.

I have heard of LKQ, they do have a really good rep. Might wanna check with your bud on warranty coverage as far as locations. If they are as good as jasper, go with them.

not to sound like a smart ***, but:

there is no alchemy in building an OE spec engine.. you'd be better suited concerning yourself with the basic things, like: what did they do to the block? all new parts or did they once over some parts and just replace the 'worn'? who built it (as in, the person), and what is there experience? how many builds do they sell a year? (if they move a lot, chances are the builders don't pay a lot of attention to what they're doing; if they move too few, experience comes into question..) ask for references.. if they don't offer references, they may not want you to see/hear those references.. if they do- by all means contact them and ask them..

the biggest thing I see with engine builders on the net, is they don't all offer completely rebuilt engines.. they bring an engine in, strip it, clean it, 'inspect' parts for wear and re-use them.. that would worry me.. the sad thing is you have to ask- and be specific, like "how many parts did you reuse on this engine?" as opposed to "how many parts do you reuse?".

I'm glad I'm not in your shoes, man.. people aren't near as honest as they were, and integrity in business is a joke nowadays..

I agree fully. There's no integrity anymore. The three places I contacted said there were no reused parts and listed a bunch with brands. Everything is domestic. And they were $5-600 cheaper than mechanics option. But only one was free shipping. I also have to consider if something would go wrong again , this place which is local could handle it all since they're affiliated and that price includes shipping.

So yes, be glad you are not in my shoes , especially choosing to leave my job (military) where financial stability is not an issue and it being the holidays and gifts already bought. LOL and not to mention the crooks around the world trying to get my business.

I'll ask him. He made it seem that he would be doing rework but I'll make sure. There's so many questions being asked and my mind is so full I forget to ask some lol.

I tried to call the company directly but no luck. Holidays aren't making it any easier. So I'm gonna keep trying them and get a breakdown of what they put in and replaced.

But I'm also worried about what could have caused the failure to begin with. Hopefully there isn't an external prob that will cause the same problem. Bad fuel system or something. I had a miss issue that no one could figure out and a gross evac leak code. I figured vac won't cause this but maybe fuel issue. I read that somethin with the fuel tank area was giving that code to a guy and he had the tank replaced and prob solved. Could be messing up fuel pressure or something. Didn't take a reading on that before this happened.

Hell yes a shattered chunk of charcoal can do all grades of foul things once it infiltrates the internals via vacuum lines and intake manifold...

Think a very bad plenum could cause some bad damage? I'm gonna look in the morning and see how bad it got just out of curiosity.

And after researching a lot of these companies, I noticed in fine print a lot of them come from atk engines. They are basically middle men, sellers.
