Little particles in a few pics and big one on left side of one of them. Couldn't get a good pic of other big one. Pulled one.

Pic of jet chip on link. I know nothing about it. Guy had it on and planned on finishing minor upgrades before getting recommended one everyone talks about. Need new one for gas mileage especially.

Chunks in the intake are probably coked oil. (leave it alone VW. ) Blown plenum is a good cause of spark knock, and spark knock is a good cause of disintegrated pistons. If your engine was making noise like marbles in a tin can, that is indeed spark knock, and can destroy your engine. (as you may have noticed......)

Magnet grabbing the pan indicates it is still the stock pan, so, has prolly never been repaired.

The big chunks are definitely not oil. I have pics up, just can't put them on here cuz I'm on my phone. Looks like chunks of metal. Don't know how they'd get up there

Might be bits of piston that got blown back up the intake tract, but, that's a LONG ways to go....... pistons are aluminum... so, non-magnetic.

Well, having the chance to rebuild the motor your way is not so bad either.

Just curious. Have you pulled the head on the side with the damage? If so, what did the top of the piston look like and how did the plug tips look?

You can only live with detonation for so long and then something has to give as in your case looks like it was the piston skirt.

Just hang in there man. You'll be back on the road before you know it.
