Default Compression Results ?

Post #1

So I did a compression test on my truck today.
Seems odd that one whole bank is perfect and the other not so much, especially cyl. #2
What do you think of #2, the book says to be within 80% of highest cyl. and it is, but not by much.
All spark plugs look near perfect, Test was done with cold engine.

1= 142
3= 143
5= 143
7= 143

2= 120 dry, 143 oiled
4= 143
6= 136
8= 137

Intake vacume was:
18.5 @ Idle
20.5 @ 1500-2000rpm

Quite a difference between banks. How many miles on the engine?

Probably something to the tune of:

Your numbers actually look pretty good, with the exception of once cylinder...... don't worry about it, just drive it.

You could do a leak-down test if it's really bothering you. Will tell you if it's intake valve, exhaust valve, rings, or head gasket. Anything except head gasket (air bubbles in the rad during test) is not really worth worrying about in an engine that otherwise runs fine.
