viper motor install questions please help.
I bought awhile back a 03 viper motor trans and complete harness etc, for cheap on ebay, at the time i was going to put it in my fathers and I old dodge ratrod, but as of now i am thinking of putting it in my 98 dodge ram 3500 thats on 44s, im going to be switching to 38s and lowering it back down for more of a expedition rig, my question to you guys is, do you know if a viper's bell housing pattern would be the same for a v10 from a truck? i currently have a v10 in it right now and like the power but i want more. anyone know if there the same or not?
I'm not all that familiar, but at least I'll toss something and maybe it will do something. (that's NOT what she said)
V10 tranny is 47re(h) per: http://dodgeram.org/tech/transmission/4xre.htm
SRT-10 tranny is 48re: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Ram_SRT-10
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TorqueFlite#47RE
I took a glimpse at the photos for 47 and 48re at PATC and they appear similar

This build reads as Binford quality.

what you want a pic of my viper motor thats sitting in the corner of my garage with a pile of wires thats on a crate? and my dodge ram thats on 44s thats already in my garage pics? just curious, i havent done anything yet, im trying to figure if its worth the hassel or be better off selling it and building up and super charging a 360.
Personally I would go the rat rod route. The Viper engine wasn't built to be pulling around 7000 lbs. of truck. Higher compression=high octane gas, power band is at higher RPM, not a low RPM lugging motor.

yea i didnt think of it that way, i have seen a few mud boggers with it done and always liked the idea.
how often do you just creep through a mud hole...if your like me you peg it to keep the tires clean and keep forward momentum....although sometimes you might just bury yourself but thats a whole new kind of fun
