I'm not an idiot, like zman apparently thinks I am! It seems obvious to me that there must be two different heater box's. Mopar has always made running production changes (not waiting until next years model comes out) to add or change parts. Maybe its a95 box? I'll have to look at the build date to confirm.

According to my 96 manual.... to get to the heater control cable, on the heater box end.... you have to pull the instrument panel....... Oh my, are we having fun yet?

You might be able to see it if you can bend yourself around that way... should be toward the center of the truck, just, way up on top of the heater box...... I think I would try the adjustment first, maybe stick your finger on the bottom of the axle, that you can actually SEE, and run the temp **** up and down the scale, see if the axle even moves.
