Speaking of 180 out. If the distributor got rotated, it should be put back in the original position before anything.

i think thats what the shop did. but since everybody keeps mentioning fuel sync. i dont think he did it right. its my understanding that you cant adjust timing on these trucks, only fuel sync. if i remember correctly he said he used a timing light to correct it. does a timing light work on these trucks? if not im pretty sure he didnt do it right. also if i find out he didnt do it right, is adjusting the dist something i can do myself without a ton of fancy tools?

PCM controls timing. The distributor actually has a small dimple in it that lines up with one on the hold down bracket. You can feel it when rotating the dizzy if the bolt is left slightly snug.

It gets it back closer, but still needs reset. The PCM can make up for some change but not all. And of course that depends on how far it was turned or is off.

Bud, you really need to get a Haynes or download one of the manuals in the FAQ/DIY section. You can check with a screwdriver for spark, but, There are cautions like don't get shocked for one, LOL And I for one would rather not be liable if any thing happens to you. As far as I'm concerned, you are asking way too many questions for me to be comfortable doing so.

Then do the test procedures that others, the manual and I have suggested. It's the only way to figure it out. You need to start from the beginning and eliminate each thing outlined. One miracle cure is not going to solve the problem.
