e fan installation problem/question!
installed my efans last night and have a question. on the ac fan clutch there are 2 wires one black, and one black with a white tracer. which is the positive? also my flex a lite controller looks like it only has one spot for a fan. so i spliced both positive ends from the fans together and then to its corresponding wire back to the controller i did this same thing for the negative. what are yalls thought?
With power off, disconnect the connector and use an ohm meter on each connector. Connect the meter ground to chassis. The ground will give you no resistance, and the positve will give you infinity.
Why is the AC fan clutch a concern with e-fan installation? Just wondering.

It's so the fans can be switched on when the compressor runs so your AC gets nice and cold.
Hmmm.....I installed an e-fan on my Jag and do not recall connecting to AC compressor. May need to revisit that. But the Jag had a mech fan AND an e-fan in front of condenser from factory that may be connected to AC clutch. This is good info. Definitely will revisit. DOn't want to toast anything.
What amperage is your controller rated for? Don't wanna smoke that guy by overloading.....
What you may want to to, is have the controller 'control' a relay or two instead of doing the fans directly.....

If the fans exceed the controller's capacity, you can plumb in a relay for the second fan.
I have a/c, and I could care less about it.. I also have a pseudo third gen, which has the main radiator more to the passenger side, and a separate a/c exchange directly in front of the driver.. it doesn't rely on the clutch fan, but has an e'fan all to itself..
it allowed me to pull something off I wish you guys could pull off as well-
I placed an aux plate style trans heat exchange directly in front of the a/c exchange, and I wired it in with the e'fan radiator controller.. Now, when I see temps spike, all I gotta do is throw the climate control fan to 'on' (don't have to have the a/c on, just a fan), and WHALLAH!~ forcing air through the trans exchange.. I dig it hugely..

IMO it's better to have the fan tied to the AC switch itself rather than the AC clutch, the clutch will cycle and having both the fan and AC clutch engage at the same time can cause some surging problems and noticeable momentary drag on the engine. Just my experience.
how would i go about this hahns?
A more-or-less analog of that for those of us with factory aux coolers would be to hang an electric fan ahead of the AC condenser and plumb one of these critters into the cold side ATF cooling line:

That critter with the adapters for barb fittings is all of $32 at PATC. The thermostat closes at 180F.
