Default amplifier mounting locations

hey everyone, i'm putting the sound system out of my 4x4 into my 4x2, and just wondering if anyone has any clever locations to mount the amp. I can't put it under the front center seat, because of my down firing sub, I'd rather not put it under the back seat, because of storage reasons.

Honestly I wanted to put it on the back of the cab behind the back part of the rear seat, but there just isn't quite enough room.

Any ideas?

Really dependent on your amp size, but my location was under driver seat. Made wiring a bit easier too. I had the factory system (can't remember if it was infinity) yanked. New tweets in the A-pillar location, front door speakers, rear door speakers, and single 8" sub under the bench on driver side.

Pics of the amp, which is not the best and is like 5 years old.

Hope this helps

i have a 4 channel amp under the passenger seat for my door speakers and when I had two twelves under the rear seat I had a 1000 watt amp under the driver seat, but the subs were recently removed along with the amp

Really the only place to mount amps in a dodge ram ext. cab is under the front seats

I have one under the drivers seat as well as one under the center seat as well.... just watch for salt eating the aluminum if you have to deal with road salt where you live.... Mine turned into a white slimy grease like substance where the paint was chipped.

central folrida...so no salt. I really hate the idea of mounting the amps under the front seats. Anybody thought about moving the rear seat forward a bit, I wonder if I could fit it behind there then. Probably only need to move forward like an inch or so, maybe I would even be able to leave the back of the seat, and the way it mounts and moves alone.

yes my passengers do accidentally kick the amp lol but it hasn't broken yet

I think there may be enough room behind the rear seat all the way at the bottom for an amp but accessibility would prove difficult

alright i got good news. I was able to drill 4 new holes in the rear seat mounting bracket. I moved the bottom of the seat forward exactly 1 inch. I did not have to mess with the top mounting of the seat. I now have enough room for my amp, I will be finishing the install tomorrow.
