Turbo V10?
A remote setup shouldn't be too hard to manage. I think paxton? made a bolt on belt driven supercharger for the viper.... though the truck motor is quite a bit different... I haven't seen or heard of anyone doing this yet though.
Hans and I had talked about doing a remote twin turbo set-up, but were curious to see if anyone else had done it, how they did it, how it turned out, etc.
I had been reading on another site that people had concerns bad/results turbo'ing the V8's due to high engine bay temps while towing, etc. A remote mounted set-up should remove that factor... but just for curiosities sake, I figured I'd ask if anyone else had some experience/results with the V10
We are not sure how the V10 engine would handle a turbo application.... that is our biggest concern, if the internals are capable of handling the turbos, if we need to do a build with forged internals, different compression, etc.

A lot of that would depend on how much boost you wanted to run. I am thinking that staying below 7 pounds would be just fine for the stock engine, since you have pretty much gone thru it? And you would have GOBS of torque....... You would be able to turn driveshafts into pretzels without much effort at all. In all reality, you might have to be careful stepping on the gas, so that you DIDN'T pretzelize your driveshafts.
The big thing with boost and towing is to not use the boost for an extended period of time, such as staying in boost all the way up a grade, it's going to build a lot of heat, especially a turbo motor (it's an exhaust restiction), it's not so much a risk of melting things (at least with a proper tune), it's the rings expanding, closing the gap and breaking the ring land off the piston. Higher mileage motors will have a bigger ring gap or you can open the motor and open up the ring gap yourself for be sure. Use the boost to get up to speed and stay out of it, the motor should make enough torque out of boost to tow decent loads up hill at the speed limit IMO. I'm unaware of any turbo V10 rams but it's been done in Vipers a number of times. Keep boost around 7lbs. Water/meth injection would be a very good idea.
On my 5.2 (which I think is the same bore as the 8.0, but with a 5.9 stroke?) I've been turboed for like 27k miles running 6-8lbs of boost with no intercooling and it's holding up great. 125k+ on the motor.

Not, they aren't, but a forced induction V-10 is going to be a torque MONSTER.

Taking my torque increase from stock on 7PSI with a small turbo, a V10 would make about 650 ft/lbs at the crank, possibly more depending on the turbo, a lot of torque for sure but not much compared to a lot of modded CTDs. Other than the tranny, I wouldn't worry too much.
we rebuilt the trans with some super heavy duty billet superman parts. I forget exactly, but, it was like the most heavy duty rebuild kit we cold get. The trans is the only thing I really wasn't worried about. LOL
