Default Serious Diesel Conversion

I am doing this no matter what the cost is going to be, I need everyone to try and come up with a list of everything I will need, so far I am assuming this.

-24 valve or 12 valve from 1997 dodge
-wiring harness off ebay or from junk yard
-Tranny? Anyway mine could work?
-Back axle
-fuel tank
-instrument cluster
-computer

Engine won't bolt to your trans, so, you need the trans as well. Might wanna verfiy output shaft spline count on the heavier duty trans as well..... might need t-case too...

Any of the heavier axles are going to be eight lug. I think you would have to get pretty creative to change that over to the five lug pattern. (and it would involve converting it from full-floating, to semi-floating axles..... which would be a downgrade... still stronger than the 9.25 though, I should think....)

Don't forget a driveshaft to go with the bigger axle.......

What you really need, is a donor vehicle. That way, you can get every part you need in one shot.

you need a front axle as well. fuel lines. motor mounts. transmission(not a chance yours would work, even if you had a 5-speed). exhaust. lots of elbow grease. transfer case. front and rear drive shafts. and im sure someone else will add some more stuff

Yeah, it's an exercise....... cheaper and easier just to buy a truck that already has one in it.

I've given this option a lot of thought as having a ram with a cummins is my dream truck, but if id ever even think of doing it, id try and find a truck with the same body style as mine, but one thts rusted out and i could get for cheap, and just transfer the body over(cab, bed, ect..) but honestly id never do that, id just sell what you have and save up for what you want. thered be to much bs to go through converting the thing over.
