Default New battery new starter- wont start

Truck was running fine, went to start it and got nothing. Figured the battery was dead so I jumped it and drove to get a new battery. Went to start it and nothing! Didn't hear the starter clicking so I bought one of those too Installed it and same thing! It starts when I jump it but thats it! any one ever hear of this or know what it could be?

Test the battery. If it works when you jump it, and the battery is good, check the battery terminals. Both ends of the ground wire please.

are the terminals corroded? check and make sure the wires are secure in the terminal. if they are loose or corroded, it wont make a good connection.

1+ to HeyYou. Definitely check the ground again. If it does nothing when you turn the key, but starts up while it's being jumped, I would have to think that your wiring is being grounded from the other vehicle

I had something very similar recently and I tried everything to fix it. The problem ended up being fixed after cutting off and replacing the positive and negative battery cable terminal connectors.

I tried new battery and starter as well and checked all the grounds until I finally resorted to replacing the terminal connectors and then it started right up.

Your ground cable may not be grounding good even if it seems fine and then when you hook up the jumpers it grounds off the other vehicle.

you could test your wires first by running the jumper cables straight from the battery to the starter or maybe use a wrench to touch the from the battery terminal to the metal battery clamp.

I replaced my cables - from Autozone.....don't know why they cannot find it. And I would not put anything between battery and connector. Arc can burn off part of post in battery.

And check the ground where it bolts to block by ps pump. Gets corroded there as well. Dirty connection will cause enough voltage drop to keep from starting.
