I have a DL in both my diffs and have never had an lock unlock situation like you describe. On dry pavment it unlocks only when turning, in/on snow/ice/mud/sand it never unlocks. A DL is not for everyone.
I've daily driven rigs with lockers since 07, 94" wheelbase and 131" wheelbase, I agree, they're predictable either way, if you're on the gas they're going to lock, if they're locking and unlocking, something is wrong
I think Firedodge bought that 4:56 gear set and locker and if I remember right he already had a locker of some type. You might see what he is up to for lockers. If all you are doing is changing the carrier it's not that hard to set it back up because you are leaving the pinion were it is. Couple of hrs work should get it done.
HA! Randomly started searching for Yukon and I found my name! I had the LockRite locker in the rear for almost a year before it broke on me, the little itty bitty pins that held the thing together broke on me, so I bought a set of 4.56's and a Yukon LSD. I made it 300 miles into the break-in period before the LSD grenaded on me. I haven't actually taken the cover off, but we're pretty sure that's what it was. If so, I'm ordering a Detroit LSD this week haha.
