Grab the appropriate service manual for your year truck from the faq section, that will tell ya which wires do what, and then you can wire it up so things work the way they are supposed to...... Do it once, do it right, don't worry about it again.

if you google the year ram stereo wiring it should bring up the colors and what they go to... mine was also butchered... no big deal.. maybe the stereo it came with just has a loose wire or was wired incorrectly... the factory amp does complicate speaker wiring...you may be batter off running new speaker wires... as far as power wires there is only three one for acc power key controlled (usually red) one constant (usually yellow) and a ground... and then an orange and some other color wire to hook up to the dimmer wire on the stereo..

here you go.

you should be able to find and use the original power wires. if not, run a new wire from either the battery (with a fuse) or from the fuse block radio slot in the end of the dash. don't go anywhere near the alternator. disconnect battery while playing with wires.

I just put the second aftermarket radio in mine. Nothing wrong with my older one "Sony 10 disk changer n deck" but I wanted blue tooth. So I got a great deal on eBay Kenwood 848u. Anyway, I didn't like the way the harness connected to aftermarket wire harness you can buy for you year truck. I cut it off and bought new reusable terminals and crimped them on. Works good. I also labeled all the stock wires for future reference if needed.

I replaced my head unit today. I had problems initially with the front speakers not working. I called my neighbor over (who is a professional auto sound installer/mechanic) and he said with our trucks and the infiniti "amps" on the front speaker you have to hook up the blue remote wire (out of the back of the new HU) to the blue wire on the factory harness. This is the same blue remote power wire that would and should go to an accessory amplifier if you chose to install one.
Hope it helps

yup without it the amp never turns on... some people wire the remote connection to the assy power which makes the amp turn on whenever the truck assy power is on switched with the key... bad idea... you often get noise in the speakers even when stereo is off.
