you can also just replace the plenum gasket and shorten the bolts or use washers because the bolts were reported to be too long and bottomed out before tightening the plate down enough to hold the gasket. if you really want to be sure and have the $50 to spare I guess the plate could be good insurance since the facts are sketchy on what the real issue is.
the plugs were definetly black. very black. smelled like gas.

also i seafoamed it and put engine restore. helped a little not major though

Does the truck consume oil and were the plugs fouled? I would seafoam it according to instructions... See how much it smokes and if it runs better afterwards..
THANK YOU so much. i seafoamed it. drove it to walmart, and got engine restore. the difrence is unbeleive able. i can actualualy go the speed limit were ever i need to go now. its crazy the power i have. i totaly forgot about that. and i have tried just 1 bottle of lucas fuel injector cleaner but that didnt really help much. also it smoked.. but it wasnt the sea foam. i drove it and the power steering leaked and it smoked like hell. also the air hat was off so i thing the part, hose vacume line or something that conects to that leaked too.. it looks like oil i think.. its also on my air filter. is that normal? its just like a line.. following were that hose plugs into. thanks for your help everyone. my main issue is fixed. any idea how to test if 4x4 works or not? as i said the light dosent come on.

Check and see if you are getting vacuum up on the cad. (on the passenger side of the front axle. two vacuum lines. only one should have vacuum at a time) In 2wd, outboard port should have vacuum, on 4wd, inboard port should.

yup..I think there's a diy on it ..just need a wrench and allen key... be sure the play is in fact in the box and not from worn or sloppy joints or steering shaft..Usually the track bar is worn out.. Overtightening the gear box adjustment screw just tightens gear positions which wears them down faster if they arent really sloppy to begin with... the truck should return to the straight position (or close to it ) on its own when you let go of the wheel... if its harder to turn you've over-adjusted..

Yep, just put it in park, and shift the t-case. Should be good enough.

There is indeed a DIY for the steering box adjustment in the faq section. Over-tightening is a VERY bad idea, for the reasons Audie mention, and also, if it's too tight, the truck will want to go every direction BUT straight down the road. (don't ask how I know this....)

Wouldnt a blown plenum effect the cylinders toward the rear of the block at the lowest point? where the oil would pool?
I also have a cylinder#1 miss issue to sort out..

Lookin' at the plugs, and seeing what they tell you would be a good first step. Its true the rear cylinders foul out first...... but, a lot depends on just where, and how bad, the plenum is leaking.
