Default What should I do with my oil?

Alright so I currently have 3000 miles on the 10W 30 Mobil 1 synthetic that I put in earlier this summer. Now that the temperatures are cooler is it worth it to put the 5w30 in? Will it affect the mpg? Thanks

in freezing temps 5w is recommended for better lubrication on startup... that said the difference in engine life may be minimal.

You are running synthetic anyway. It wont make a difference in winter to be honest. You only have 3k on it? I would just change filter and run it another year.

Do not run anything lower weight than 10W30 in your engine. 5W30 is too thin.

Some of it will come out. I've never tried this myself so I can't tell you how much.

Yes, you can change the filter and may have to top off the system with less than half a quart.

I would have just got a high mileage filter to go with your synthetic. I use the Mobil1 Synthetic and it claims its good for up to 12k miles and I use a Fram Xtended Guard good for 10k miles. Flame me if you choose but I have NEVER EVER had a problem with any of Frams products.
