When I worked as a salesman at several dealerships, I saw lots of trade ins that were jacked up home-made lift jobs. Owners could not understand why their trade did not bring anything. All we could do was wholesale as cost for our shop to remove lift pieces and repair vehicle was not cost effective. A properly installed lift was great - I could sell a lifted truck sometimes before it got out of the used car make ready lot!

This is oh so true, I had my truck at a dealer three weeks ago picking up parts and the salemen were all over it trying to get me to trade it in. All they could say was it would not stay on there lot for more than two days. You would not belive me on what they offered me for it, but it was over $7000cdn. No it's not going anywere. So do it right or don't do it at all.

I echo the comments by kejobe and merc225hp.

For a suspension lift, no matter how you put it together and it adds to 5"....you MUST included the ancillary parts or its just a hack job.

Whomever told you that it was fine to ignore them...is flat out wrong, trying to make a buck, or is misunderstanding the question. To be clear, the control arm length has nothing to do with a body lift.

I'm also going to be fabbing new winch bumper. Is that the route you are going also? I've got various design ideas and such. Are you looking for that? Let me know via PM since that is not on topic. lol

As you are now going to 6" of lift you might look into getting one of these as well, Skyjacker t case index ring part #IXR10, IXR20K and shocks, and a new steering stabilizer as the stock one will not work with that much lift.

Edit: You will also need longer front and rear brake lines.

already have new steering stabilizer. gonna get dual when i put 35s on. and i dont think i need new brake lines when its only a 3" suspension... its 5.5"-6" on the front with the level kit on there....

do i have my parts wrong? do i need 3" drops or 6" drops? cuz i have the level kit in there....

3" springs, and spacers of 2.5, or 3", ARE going to require longer brake lines. You do NOT want the experience of stepping on the brake pedal when you REALLY need it, and it just flopping to the floor, and doing nothing at all to slow the truck. That is most certainly a pants-filling moment.

Go for drops for your TOTAL lift. (unless part of it is a body lift....)
