So it is the ADBV most likely? I'm a k&n fan, how are their oil filters? Now I ask which oil filters you guys prefer lol. I'm willing to pay a few bucks more for a working filter. Its strange I have never seen that happen before though. Thanks

After doing some research tonight on oil filters I came across this. Royal purple oil filters have no paper.

Needless to say I am switching to these until my CM oil filter gets here.

i'm stumped too. maybe some kind of siphon effect.
or - maybe the bypass valve was defective or stuck open and the oil was bypassing the filter element/canister.

It is strange that after sitting a day the filter was empty, and after adding new oil and filter and starting the truck, oil was getting to the filter. I mean it was dry, no drips or oil pooled in the old filter when I was taking it off. Strange. Does anyone know about the anti-drain valve?
Fram oil filters are over-priced garbage. Period.

This would be my best guess as well.

K&N's are very good. I use Purolator PureOne filters, they're reasonably priced and very well built, the rough outer coating also lets you grip them easily.

I run Amsoil filters on mine. Never had any problems.

+1, the check valve was simply defective . Could happen with any brand or product for that matter. But I for one will not use a product that I know is already defective/inferior (so to speak) from the minute it's made.
