HeLp PlEaSe!!!
Got this 97 ram 2500 about a year and some change ago as a plow truck . 5.9 gas 4x4. Ever since i got it i replaced these:
1-trany , transfer case , drive shaft , 4x4 switch
2-spark plugs , wires, cap and rotor , air filter , pcv valves
3-Fuel pump ...that came with a filter
4 injectors
5 catalytic converter
Runs and drives perfect ,no light on the dash, idle perfect , except for a little tiny thing : NO POWER
It slows down going up the hills , downshifts to the point that rpm goes up to 3-4000 to maintain the speed ....AND EATS TONS OF GAS !!!! ...doesnt eat that much oil though , a quart every 1000 miles maybe .
I a new member here and for the past 2 days i have been reading about the plenum problem and i am going to check it tonight.
One other problem i have with this truck is that when its below 40 outside and i dont let it to fully warm up it does this weird thing :
----after driving it for 2-3 min and get to a full stop , it does this weird noise that sounds almost like releasing the valve from an air compressor to let the air out and then it would either stall or come out of gear . I will put in park and then back to D and it will run or if i hit the gas , it will kick really hard into gear . I hit the gas first time that happened and i will never do it again because i am afraid i will need to collect the trany from the ground . Also stalled 2 times when i stop on a steep hill .
i would also like to mention that cruise control never worked ever since i got the truck ...but i never really looked into it because i dont use it .
After installing all those parts , didnt really notice any increase of power .
Any ideas ?? Please help me out , it is really frustrating!

How many miles on the truck? Original O2 sensors?
Need to check the plenum, and see if it's blown. (probably......) If it is.... (probably) you need to fix that, and check your cat, chances are it's plugged from the (probably) blown plenum.
Cruise is either the vacuum line is broke, or, battery junk dripped onto the servo, which is RIGHT under the battery..... not exactly a good place for anything.....
When you do your (probably blown) plenum, do the timing chain and gears too. Nice double roller set looks good in there.

+1 on HeyYou's post. Sounds like plenum.....and possibly clogging cat again. Remove upstream O2 sensor and see if it runs better. Look down the TB and see if there is apool of pil in the bottom of the pan.
Also, you can go to the FAQ/DIY section and download a service manual. Good info.

Check plenum. This will rob power. But if plenum gasket is blown, cat is usually clogged or clogging, so that doesn't seem to follow if the old cat looked clean.
Check fuel pressure and maybe vacuum. Also check spark to make sure it is good and hot.
