Default Truck Keeps Running When Turned Off ? ( Cured )

Cured, see post #12

Weird thing here
I put truck in park, turn key to the off position and it stops.
But, if I don't stop the key just perfect in the off position and I go back to the Accessory position,
the truck keeps running
Also if the truck is already off and I turn the key to accessory to listen to the radio, all the gauges turn on.

So do I need a new ignition switch or might there be a quick fix ?

sounds like could be a faulty ignition switch but could be something in the wiring. Does the truck have remote start, alarm, aftermarket radio if so how long have they been installed.

Has an Alarm that does not work.
I know nothing about it, it was already on the truck when I bought it and was not working then.

It could have something to do with that alarm, I suggest you remove it and see if that fixes your problem I have seen unused alarms cause all kinds of trouble because the alarm module is full of relays which are tied to you ignition switch and if one of the relay circuits inside it have shorted out then it could cause the same prob your having. Just make sure that when you uninstall the alarm that you hook the starter wire back together most alarms have you cut it in two and hook there wires up to it that is part of the starter circuit.

i would recommend checking the wiring bus at the ignition swith. could have a chaffed wire. also the terminals inside the switch may need to be cleaned. and relubed. could be sticking.

OK, the Alarm system is working fine, Operator error
However it arrears that to remove the Igmition switch I need a special Torx driver that has a hole on the middle.
Anyone know where to get such a Torx driver ?

Also just to clarify, how many positions is the ignition switch suppose to have and what are they ?
Mine is:
1: Accessory I think
2: Off
3: Nothing
4: Start

accessory
lock
off
run
start

Safety torx, parts stores should have 'em, or, a place that sells hand tools. Somewhere around here, there is a vid for doing the ignition switch.....
