Default ballast box build, shovel mounting question.

hey guys, im currently building a ballast box, and adding things to it to customize it to my needs.

im wanting to mount some shovels to the top, and im having trouble finding the clips that i need to get. does anyone know what theyre called, or where i can get them? (home depot, lowes, ace, etc.)

I suppose that what they're called depends upon which ones you're talking about.

Just a thought: After a few freeze/thaw cycles, any tool lying flat in the bed of the truck is probably going to be anchored in a big chunk of ice when you need it the most. I'm still brainstorming, but my current line of thinking is to rig up a little something that can be mounted with the pre-drilled, rubber capped accessory mounting holes that are already there in the Back Rack. Seems doable, would keep the long handled implements out of harm's way but still very accessible, and unlikely to get frozen to the bed. Ya think?

well the shovels, and what not will be 8" off the bed floor. i used 2x8's for the whole thing. i just completed it, and i even added in 12 5/16's spots to put a couple milk crate that i had lying around in, so i can put my chains, and extra fluids that i may need in. ill get some pics tomorrow afternoon, as its kinda getting dark here, as its now right about dark:30 right now, haha.

i found the clips i was looking for, and here is what i was thinking/talking about. i just dont know where to get them other than online.

I would think Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware and such should have them.

Well ****. I would of thought Home Depot would have had them. I guess that goes to show you can build a garage from there, get the tools to put in it, but not organize them too well.

Not there is a truck that works.

I like the idea with the milk crates. Good Plan.

one milk crate will be for chains and such, and the other will be for fluids.

also gotta get the blocks to put in the box against the tailgate. 12-4x8x16 solid concrete blocks should do the trick!
