Help me deside new tire size
Got my new tires tonight;
Mastercraft Courser CT LT265/75R16 E load rating.
I plan on going bigger after I regear to 4:10's and get new Rims.
They seem to handle nicely around town, no more road noise than a standard tire. May try a little off road this weekend.
Thanks for everyones input

I've got no issues with you, some of the comments like "you got the answer you wanted" kinda do come off a little condescending, though whether you mean for it to or not (that parts up to you, doesn't affect me much either way). I don't really see where anyone would have an issue with the earlier post I made that you quoted. I'm not really disagreeing with you. Larger tires have to rob some power. Have to, no way around it. It was not enough for me to really notice (265 vs 285). I don't race from stoplight to stoplight, so maybe I notice less than someone who does (not saying you do). Maybe I lost 10 HP, or whatever, and didn't notice. All I did was answer the original question.. They fit, you lose a little mpg, and the power difference was negligible (265 vs 285) for the way I drive. Don't see where you'd take issue with that, really. Wasn't trying to get anyone upset. I'm thinking maybe you read it a little different than I meant it, maybe I did the same. No problem here, sir.

Kinda off topic but i have 285s and want to switch to a 315 or 33 12.50 15 (not sure yet) would there be a power loss here? Being that a 285 is a 33 inch tire would just goig wider make a difference?
Whoops, got my numbers mixed up. I meant 305 not 315
Yeah when I rereaded that It came off pretty bad... plus I had misinterpreted the original post you had wrote because I thought the op wanted to put 33x 12.5 tires on 7" rims...No problem here and sorry for coming off that way... I tend to overreact to drive my point home at times....I mentioned this before but my first truck was a jeep I bought with 31" tires and a 4 banger with 4.10 gears... It drove ok (I thought ) and when the tires wore out I decided to throw 32" tires on it and a lift....I couldnt even hold 5th gear at 65mph.... I went to 4.56 gears (which brought things to stock ratios with 33" tires) and after like 6 years of owning the jeep I was amazed at how much power and better mpg it had with the new gears... Because I was young and bought it used I had no idea what it drove like before the PO stuck the big tires on it...So I try to give people the heads up as much as possible...
I'm thinking the larger (even if just wider) tire will be heavier, so yeah it will be more weight to turn and rob some power. Enough to bother you or not, I dunno.
Only from the weight difference....... which probably won't even be noticeable. However, the wider tires will certainly make it DRIVE different.

One of my first vehicles was a Jeep too. But it was probably a little older, had a V8 and 3 spd manual, no OD. Had 33's, and anything over 60 mph was spooky. Had 3.54 gears, I think. I lifted it (spring lift) 4" and it really felt scary then. Felt like it was taller than it was wide. Sheesh. Been kinda leary of lifting a vehicle ever since.
