Default Slooshing noise

Hey guys.

I have a slooshing noise that comes from my 99 5.9's heater core on start up and becomes more prominent when I accelerate, but then backs off a bit after the inital acceleration. I know everyones going to say theres air in the system but i have bled the **** out of it and I cannot get any air to come out. I parked it on my drive way (which has a retardedly steep incline) to try to burp it. I kept the rad cap off, heat on, and revs up for a good half hour with no results. The truck stays at normal temp, never comes close to even the middle of the temp guage. This all started after I back flushed the heater core because I had no heat. It worked like a charm by the way, its blazing in there now. My thought is could it be a blockage in the heater core making the sound, or maybe the water pump impellors are going out. Has anyone ever had a problem like this??? Or any advise as to what to try?

Thanks

Most of the time, it is indeed air trapped in the heater core...... but, if your heat will cook you out of the truck, I wouldn't even worry about it......

If it really bothers you though... how old is your water pump?

Welcome to DF.

I have never changed it, and I dont know when it was last done. Maybe I should just change it for the hell of it.

I would change it to prevent "hitting my forehead and yelling, "why in the heck did this go out NOW?"

I'm assuming the radiator is kept completely full, and the overflow bottle is full to the mark that's on it. Man, if you guys are changing heater cores for the heck of it...you are some twisted individuals. Lol.

I have the identical problem you describe. Water pump changed 10k miles ago, and heater core changed 500 miles ago. The sounds never went away. I've come to realize that its gonna be there forever.

I know somehow someone will tie it to plenum.....that is being done on Thursday...LOL
