Dunno how high quality these kits are, but this is the cheapest one I have found.

you can probably save A LOT of money and hassle and just get the 408 for 5400 on this site. It comes with a warranty as well. Sure you can do it yourself, but the toold I would need to do everything would pretty much even out (and considering the fact that i would probably m ess something up.)

Yeah, I would just buy the 408 and a VIPER and then call it a day 370/400 HP/TQ sounds good for a crate. I could probably squeeze some more ponies out of that with the mods that I currently have. Not to mention hemifever's tune.

MY POINT EXACTLY. You can even call them to get the shortblock done. That means that you can probably save a bit of money.
They will do any type of custom work on the engine, but it probably costs a bunch.
NOTE: I usually do things myself especially because it "allows" me to increase my tool collection. Sure, "doing it myself" may cost the same as "Sending it to the mechanic," but on top of the fixed problem, I have a new tool to show for it. For a 408, there are WAY too many tolerances to mess up (I have never worked with plastigauge, and don't have the means to balance a crankshaft).
