3" body lift questions
Well i have recently been running ideas for my truck and think i might sometime in the next couple months put a 3" body lift on. I have a 99 dodge ram sport 1500 and it has TGC 3" front spacers and 1 1/2" rear blocks and was wondering if it would look dumb with stock tires? How hard is a body lift to install and what are reasons not to do a body lift?
The whole idea behind a body lift is, it's a cheap way to get clearance for larger tires. With a total of six inches of lift, the stock tires are gonna look TINY. WAY out of proportion.
Why would you want to put a body lift in there, if you aren't going to upsize your tires? 6" of lift is enough room for 35's.

I agree it would look silly with that much lift and small tires... body lifts have thier advantages... for one thing the center of gravity is lower since the heavy stuff like the frame and drivetrain remain lower and closer to the road... also the ride quality isnt compromised. the down side is moving the bumpers and such so it doesnt look bad...
I would say that a 33" tire is borderline for 3.55:1 gears. 35" on maybe a 3.92 but a 4.10 or 4.56 will be your best option.

true.... but axles and driveshafts are still the limiting factor in almost all cases so its really a moot point...
