Default ring and pinion question

so i got my carrier out of my axle and got a few questions. My pinion gear is chewed up a bit so i may end up getting a set of used junk yard gears(same ratio of course). Is it ok to run a set of used gears? Also i may put it back together until i can afford gears or if i sell it. what do i need to do before reinstalling? can i just put it all back together since i all i did was replace the cross shaft in the spiders?

Yep, just put it back the way it was with the shims and such (if any) and you should be golden. Check the pattern before buttoning it up. If it looks ok, run it. If it's noisey..... might wanna have another look.

Thanks! Thinking i will toss it together and see if the pinion is damaged enough to screw the pattern up at all. if so ill be going down that road then. if it looks good ill just run it lol. Seriously time for one tons since im breaking internal parts now...
