Doin' brakes.
So I'm doing my brakes and I noticed something.
The outer brake I just took out didn't seem right. The clip near the end of the brake was downwards. and the 2 inner clips that snap into the holes weren't lined up.
It looks like it was half assed. The new brake I put on is facing up wards and the clips are in properly.
Is that clip near the end supposed to be on the bottom of the caliper?

You should only take one side apart at a time(so you have the other for reference) did you do that?(and your description is pretty useless without pics) And in the FAQ/DIY section there might be a DIY for your year truck. If not, try a search here on DF(yea I know the search feature here sucks). But there is threads with great pics. Other than that, you should have a Haynes and download the correct FSM for your year truck from the FAQ/DIY section.
So since I replaced my brakes, I drove about 80 miles with them and they still keep smelling like they're burning. Before my other brakes didn't make that smell, but they were really worn down. I highly doubt my caliper is bad. The truck brakes fine, it's just after while they smell like it's burning and when I came home I felt the tire and it was hot. Not burning hot, but pretty hot compared to the back tire.
I'm not a fan of bleeding the brakes LOL

Look at it this way, you have a problem, that is going to require bleeding in any event.
If you just crack open the valve, a bit of fluid may come out, but, so long as you DON'T step on the pedal with the valve open, it'll be ok.
