Default K&N Questions

I am just wondering if it is worth paying for a K&N cold air intake and replacing my stock air filter. What benefits are there to putting one on instead of the stock assembly?

Your wallet will be lighter, therefore, you will get marginally better performance...... (not that you would be able to notice though....) The Spectre CAI system will do the exact same thing, for half the cost. Not like you are getting "colder" air with either system though, as they both draw it from the exact same place the stock system does. Where you may pic up a little power is, the various CAI systems flow better than the stock stuff.

Ok I wasn't sure because the stock unit pulls air from the passenger fender which I figured would kinda constrict air flow. I think I might get a high flow air filter for my stock system.

That would be a worthwhile investment.

How about the Spectre replacement filter as opposed to the K&N ?
The Spectre is less than half the price, $19.99
Any good ?

I had a 14x3 on my 94 and it drove me NUTS sounded like a
huge vacume leak.

That's because that is EXACTLY what it is, a huge vacuum leak.

Spectre filters are pretty good.

I have a K&N on my Yota and a SPectre on my Ram. K&N is overpriced to me and does not appear to offer better performance.

Get the spectre and drop that in. Do not get the whole K&N system.

I have the spectre drop in for my truck (And for my wife's Yukon).

If you to to autozone or a store like that, they will show you the spectre and the K&N filters. The spectre actually looks like a more robust part. The cloth is a bit thicker with the spectre.

They had a 10 dollar rebate for the spectre a while back (couple years ago). Might want to do a quick search to see if it is still available.

BTW, I know I have a mopar round in my pic, I took that off because I didn't like the whistling/sucking sound. The noise comes from the air going over the threads on the S-bolt that you need to affix it.

I also have a Spectre filter, I think it's rather good.
