Is there really a best cold air intake for my 01 Ram?
There are so many different ones, it's a bit confusing, let me know if, an what you have.
Thanks

im just sayin for 100 bucks or so you can beat the spectre. and you can get it from autozone if you done wanna wait. alot of people run the 14x3, but if u want a cai setup, i think k&n cost to much for the same power you can get from the spectre for 1/3rd the price.

I got mine for $40 off ebay.... the brand doesnt matter.... how it works does...you want something that does a good job of bringing in cold air from somewhere other than under the hood (its all hot air there) this is why the fender was chosen for oem CAI setup... The problem with the factory oem setup is the restrictive accordion type hose that creates a lot of turbulence... if you found an alternative for that hose that was smooth I bet you would have a setup that is superior to many aftermarket CAI's out there

I'm a firm believer in the oem air intake working just fine if not better than a K&N or any 14X3. And I've said many times here on DF that the only CAI I would buy is the Volant. Well I got the chance to get one for a good deal, and I installed it. And it's the *****... LOL

Why exactly do you firmly believe in the stock system?

Because 99% of them draw air from the exact same place as the stock system. Thru the same hole in the fender. The only real benefit you see from them really is they flow better than the stock system. If you get one or two horseys out of the deal, you are doin' good.

The volant system though, actually has the extra duct that runs to the front by the radiator support, actually a better system than anything else I have seen, aside from a "real" cold air system, like cowl induction, or a functional hood scoop.
