Rocker arm torque
Ok, my thread was dying so this where I am at. I have the heads on and torque down to specs. I am not sure by this dang manual but are the bolts on the rocker arm need to be torqued down to 200lbs? I mean I am confused since the heads were done 50lbs and then 105 lbs. I ran twice across them at 105 lbs to make sure. The heads were re done and a valve job. so they are like new. Is there any special way they ( rocker arms) have to be done. the push rods are back in the order they came out so it now down to have them torque to their correct setting. Thanks

Hey You, Do you know? I cant seem to find a number in stone. Its has to be done correctly and I'm not going to risk it by chance. I have googled it but that hasn't shown much of anything. maybe I'm over picky but I just want everything done correctly. Like I said, the Haynes book it a weird deal in some ways on how they go about bouncing all over and to me not very clear on some issues.

From the 01 service manual. (5.2 section. It IS a 5.2, right? )
INSTALLATION
(1) Rotate the crankshaft until the “V8” mark lines
up with the TDC mark on the timing chain case
cover. This mark is located 147° ATDC from the No.1
firing position.
(2) Install the push rods in the same order as
removed.
(3) Install rocker arm and pivot assemblies in the
same order as removed. Tighten the rocker arm bolts
to 28 N·m (21 ft. lbs.) torque.
CAUTION: DO NOT rotate or crank the engine during
or immediately after rocker arm installation.
Allow the hydraulic roller tappets adequate time to
bleed down (about 5 minutes).
(4) Install cylinder head cover (Refer to 9 -
ENGINE/CYLINDER HEAD/CYLINDER HEAD
COVER(S) - INSTALLATION).

Ok, Here comes the dumb question on my part. the heads were done so everything is assembled other that I installed the push rods in the same order as they came out. Do I have to rotate the TDC to start my torque sequence or can I just do the torque down? Also the book said 200 inches I believe. I was told 12 / 200 which came out to 16.6666. lbs. Since you have more experience, I would go with what you found and yes, it a 1999 dodge ram 1500 318 / 5.2.
