Default Brake upgrade

I tried searching this but on my phone it's a pain. So Im wanting to put 2001 dual piston calipers on my 97. Question is will they bolt straight up and will I have to get 2001 rotors as well? On another note, I'm just going to run the 1 ton chevy wheel cylinders in the back but i can't seem to find any "upgraded" shoes for the back. So should I just get the best ones from my local oreillys or am I missing something lol.

Rear shoes - I installed the GM wheel cylinders. Get the best quality rear shoes.

Don't know about the dual caliper. Seems there are a couple of threads about that but I cannot recall - some years will not work without changing more parts. Maybe someone will post up that has experience with this.

I'm not sure on the dual piston calipers either, but another option that would work for ya are using 2500 LD calipers (7500 GVW). Just throwin that out there

I thought about the ld 2500 calipers too but I'm not sure if the rotors are bigger and I want the ebc green stuff 7000 series pads and I can't find them for the ld.

i think the 2000-2001 calipers, caliper brackets, and steering knuckles have to fit together as a set. not sure about rotors, you can look that up at a parts web site like autozone for year range fit.

----so it turns into a sizable job, probably not worth it unless you had an 00-01 donor parts truck.

Yep, bolt right on. Use the stock rotors, and 2500 pads.

Pistons are larger diameter, so, you get more brake performance for the same pedal effort. Go with the best quality pads you can afford. Might wanna replace the soft lines as well, since you are pulling the calipers, and are going to have to bleed the brakes anyway. Upgrading the lines to the braided stainless fellers will also improve brake performance. (the rubber lines expand under pressure.... the braided guys don't.)

Yeah I'm going to run the ebc green stuff 7000 series pads. I never even thought about braided lines.
