How to repair a hole in a battery
Since I know how to keep a venting battery from exploding I'd run it until I could replace it at a convenient time if it still was in good shape.
If you don't know what you are doing then immediately have it replaced by someone that does. Do not jump start your vehicle until it is gone.
It's not hard to never have a battery explode but takes the knowledge to act accordingly.

on the contrary.... science class is how I know the acid does not phase the plastic..(and common baking soda neutralizes battery acid btw)....
I'm not suggesting the OP do either as its his call... but just to clarify the vague assumptions I'll make some educated assumptions without the bias of the fear of the unknown...
The way I understand it the battery has vents in the top to prevent any type of pressure from becoming an issue unless its completely sealed... I've also seen people get burned from battery acid... and it was caused by the person who was improperly trying top off a battery while charging it... it takes other issues to cause a battery to explode and it would leak acid everywhere from the vents with or without a repair on the side of the battery...
you would know whether the repair is strong and holding up well after the repair is done and again after charging the battery...... If you were that worried about the long run in the vehicle you could just buy one of those $20.00 marine battery cases..which would contain any possible acid spills in any case... plus you could further protect your battery from the elements...
All that said If it were me it would totally depend on how big of a hole were talking about and were on the battery it is.... if it were towards the bottom I would likely just replace it out of convenience and piece of mind...I too would worry about the unknown variables such as the plastic repair being affected by the cold freezing temps and such..

And since you brought it up.
Your posts are negative more often than not... more so recently than in the past..
Even when your right you could stand to explain things better without looking for the most negative way to express it for shock value or whatever your looking for. You argue just to argue.. It just gets old...
Just an obsevation ..One that you you're apparently all to familiar with judging by your signature...

The Interstate battery deal is a good thing. I think they are rebuiding the batteries and selling them without having to warrranty them to long. Like they did in the old days... At lest they are not trying to scam u . I worked at a battery place when I was a kid. The old man would say " batteries are good for 36 months, dont need to buy one for any more then that and when its time is up, just know your going to need a new one."
Look on the internet for a store front. Super service and they will install it for you.
