The engine will physically bolt right in, but, you will need a flywheel for the 360. 318 is internally balanced, 360 is not.....

You will need a PCM compatible with the 360 as well. 96 or newer, you can just reflash it. (hemifever can hook ya up.) 95 or older, and you will have to replace the PCM. They aren't flash programmable. If you don't, you will run lean in open loop...... (such as, when stepping heavily on the gas......) and it will be prone to spark-knock... not a good thing.

Is there any difference between a 360 auto and manual flywheel?

96+ would have to be only through 97 maybe 98 if I'm lucky because of the digital dash clusters "network" they went to in 98.

So both OBDI & OBDII 360 PCM's are compatible with a 318 Dakota harness?

Um, yes. The manual's flywheel has a nice flat even surface all across it so that a clutch can grip it, and 6 holes around the outside edge to bolt a pressure plate to. The auto's flexplate has large holes in it to save materiel and weight and small holes in it to bolt on a torque converter and, well, can't take a clutch

Looks like I should seek out a 1996 Dakota 318ci wiring harness then since it's the only OBDII Dakota in that generation. Then find a 1996 PCM for a 360ci since 96/97 do not need the vin flashed in, but I'm not sure if it has to be a Ram pickup or if it can be a van or Durango?
