Sometimes the wire harness going to the gov pressure solenoid will crack and a little bit of tranny fluid will get inside the wires and mess things up. This usually happens right at the connector inside the tranny
if its not the external connector or wiring, this internal wiring harness was my thoughts too. i don't know for sure, but i think? this internal wiring harness is pretty straightforward and reasonably priced.
Ya i put in an internal one in a couple years ago i think it was about 40 bucks
The internal wiring harness is part of the TCC and OD lock up solenoid unit. If the harness is bad it can cause RPM jumps like a bad TPS can also do. I don't think it's the problem if you replaced only 2 years ago. Anyway, this is from the awesome FAQ/DIY section, right here at DF. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ise-speed.html
So I tried the key trick last night and it didn't work. I'm gonna take the truck over to novco/parts plus where my wife's dad works either tomorrow night or friday night and get what codes are in the ECM. I might not get a chance to crawl underneath the truck until this weekend. Thanks for all your help so far!
Thanks for the direction guys. I did it the same way I do it on my 94 Grand Cherokee and it works fine on that. (The key trick)
Anyways, no biggie. I was able to pull the connector off on the outside of the transmission pan last night and it was chock FULL of dirt so we (my brother and I) took an air nozzle to the connector ends.
I just got back from resetting the ecm. These were the codes before I reset it:
1757
0141
I will consider myself one lucky SOB if just cleaning out that one connector fixes it.
Update: Turns out cleaning out the external wire didn't work. Check engine and loss of power happened again yesterday. I guess next to check is the internal wiring.
