I loved it compared to stock. response was way better. powerband felt smoother and more poweful. mileage however went down due to heavy right foot.
you could feel the 1-2 hp that much ? I'm guessing your old filter was just plugged up...(Or your mind was trying to rationalize the extra money you just spent)
I have had k&n filters in 4 different vehicles...and felt no difference... dyno tests have proven gains on some vehicles but its minimal... I like the fact I can clean and reuse them but they are really hype....

The bragging rights sticker it came with on the other hand... gave me 15 HP...

I have a spectre element now in my ebay CAI.... if the 14x3 that was there when I bought the truck hadnt been damaged and so noisy I might had just kept it...
I feel the throttle body size and air horns were a bigger restriction than the air filter...

They DO flow better.... but, for 'normal' driving, you will never actually see the benefit of that. Rarely does my truck EVER hit 'max flow' for the air. Hell, if I get over 3000RPM, I am beating on it...... might happen once or twice a month.... maybe.

I agree they do... but on many vehicles like our trucks I think there are so many other restrictions to air flow its really a moot point... it made no noticable difference in my vette or my vw or jeep for that matter except it took a lot longer to plug (due to filtering less I believe otherwise were does the dust go?)

That's what I mean and am talking about. it's all hype unless you have some kind of race rig like Rm Indy. If one is dead set on a CAI, get the Spectre new(they are the cheapest) or find a used K&N for cheap on ebay or something. They simply are not worth the money new.
