1. Looking at getting a stick, crew cab. Figure clutch replacement cheaper than auto trans replacement.
2.Premium fuel is still cheaper than diesel.
3. Thanks for all the advise everyone.
When I think about Hemi trucks, I always end up wanting an 05 (better 3rd gen bodystyle IMO) 2500 4x4 with a 6 speed (05 was the first year of the G56, instead of the NV4500).
I think you'd get much better mileage pulling with a diesel instead of a Hemi. Even is gas is still cheaper then diesel you gotta wonder just how fast the Hemi will drink it compared to a Cummins, PowerStroke, or CrapoMax, whatever brand you were looking at.
Get a 2nd gen 12 valve with a stick. Cheap and in-de-freakin'-structible. Or buy a rolled one and swap the motor/tranny/D80 into your '96.
Edit: I just want to point out that I put this in the wrong thread, as there are TWO up right now about people wanting to get rid of their 2nd gen for a newer diesel. Oops.
So ignore the second part, but the first sentence still applies.

So I decided on the Cummins. I want the 24V HO and 6 speed stick and seems I have plenty to choose from in the 2500 series.
Damn, the specs for power on those engines are incredible!
