still have not traded in yet. Still looking for 02 04 year range. Still waiting to fund this upgrade but when i do, will post pics. The 2500 front end parts are beefier And know what to look for. Did a lot of research and is definantly going to be Dodge Cummins.

Ok found a 1998 2500. Has the 5.9 Cummins.
The owner works at the Dodge dealer and had the the truck gone through.
Service was done and valves adjusted. Has 136k miles on it.
It has a power slider, exhaust brake, new tires and rims, steering is tight and dash is not cracked.
Was a trade in and he bought it to haul a race car but never bought a trailer and now is selling the race car too.
He wants 8k for it. More to come...

If you can find one in your price range, the '04 1/2 - '07 5.9 is the class of the diesel pickup truck world. Significant HP & Torque upgrade with the '04 1/2 than the previous CTD engine. I almost traded in my '04 Hemi on a new '06 CTD JUST before I started modding the sh*t out my Hemi. But I didn't pull the trigger as it was more of a "want" than a need. I didn't pull anything heavier than 3000 lb. of boat at the time and because I had a daily driver I don't average 6k miles a year on my truck.

Still to this day though, I regret not doing it. Now that I've sunk about $13k mod money in my Hemi, I don't see getting out of it anytime soon, plus I'm the original owner and I just hit 50k miles on it.

The '07 1/2 and up 6.7 CTDs are emission nightmares along with the newer Duramax and Ford diesels. Never really liked the Duramax, not that I really saw much wrong with the engines, but the GM trucks around them were plastic, poor fit & finish trucks that tended to have numerous "nuisance" type problems. Ford ain't built a PowerStroke worth a damn since the 7.3L. I personally know four Ford 6.0 diesel owners who have dealt with blown heads...

No unfortunately it is not. It is 4 speed auto. Service been done, pan dropped and bands adjusted by dealer he works for. It shifts real good.
The positive side is my wife can drive it.
Never been chipped other than the super chips PCM programmer. I guess he used it for mileage setting and to adjust for tire size. He is including that too.
I close the deal tomorrow and meeting the seller at the bank.

Hammer, that's good info a and did a lot of research on models and kept coming back to dodge.

The 47RE is a lot better than the 46.
It just can't take a heavily modded engine.

Yeah I am keeping it stock. I need it to tow my travel trailer so I can get a little more pulling power than my 1500 Ram especially uphill and want to be able to travel longer distances. I don't want to kill the engine in the 1500.

I am not a modder or a racer. Just need a good dependable towing rig.

Save up for the injection pump when it goes out. And get an airdog or equivalent setup.
