Tranny issues, need help

I'm afraid in this case it most likely is rebuild time. From what I've read here and there, 1763 is not good when it keeps popping up after replacing the solenoid. Did you thoroughly check the harness inside the transmission when you had the pan off?

Thats because it IS rebuild time.... not having the funds and ignoring the obvious does not change the problem... Like I said before if it was the check valve you would have seen the od light come on when it overheated...

I know, I was there in december... I had to charge half my rebuild..

I was helping georgiahemi try to diagnose this. If I saw trash in the solenoid screens and in the pan I would agree that it is rebuild time. But since everything is so clean, I would have to think it is either a wiring issue or a high pressure. Unfortunately, I dont have access to a good scanner to check running parameters or gauges to test pressure.

Does anyone know the voltage range that the GPS operates at? I know when it gets to 4.9 ish it is out of range, or too close to 5 volts and sets the code. Also, the harness that goes from the trans to the PCM, is that a complete engine harness?

Download the 2001 fsm from the FAQ/DIY section so you can trace the wires. And check the 8 pin main plug on the tranny again.

Looks like the Red wire is the power feed for ALL the trans stuff. Should be 12 volts going in. Governor pressure input to PCM is in connector 2, cavity 29, Light Green/White wire. Check voltage at that wire, see what ya get. It's possible that wire is shorted somewhere along the way, giving false readings to the PCM.

if he recently replaced the solenoid like he said he did he would have cleaned the pan and doughnut magnet too right? or was everything clean the first time it was opened? if so I'd think someone else was in there because these things usually have a lot of metal stuck to that magnet during normal maintenance time.
because if not its very likely the valvebody passages could be partially plugged causing the pressure to be out of whack at the soleniod....
thats what happened to mine... I tried replacing the soleniod and still had the error along with like three others..

Thanks for the tips guys. I looked at the 8 pin plug, it was definately better than that pic zman posted!! I havent pinned out any wires yet, but that is the next step. It sounds like the GPS input could be shorting to 12 volt causing this whole issue. If we can ever get this thing fixed, we will do a write up on exactly what we did. Thank you all for helping!!

After reading the service manual, I think I need to test governor pressue first to verify if it is a pressure issue or electrical. Looks like all I need to do the test is hook up a pressure gauge to the governor test port. I have an oil pressure gauge that I could rig up and with enough hose, I could have the gauge in the truck to monitor. I am thinking if it is within specs at idle and at speed, we can be sure it is in the wiring.

That should work just fine. A list of any adapters needed would be good to have.
