thats what i was thinking too ive heard rumors the bellhousing was different on v8 Dakotas (doesn't make since). most of the yards around me dont look at interchangeability so a lot of times you just have to go look and know your knowledge before hand they simply just bring it in.

One of the yards here has an interchange manual, tells ya what parts will go where. Quite handy..... I usually call 'em, and ask what I can score what I need out of, if they don't have what I want.

so im back today i pulled the valve assembly off and was wanting to know how to get the srtut back in. assumed the strut need to rest in the notch on the arm and then into the band. pics to come shortly found this excellant right up and picture my strut is a little more than an 1" in length and exactly an 1" in width does it just slide up behind the pivot arm in the notch at the top and into the band its a pretty tight fit how do a gain a little more room to get it in. much appreciated hopefully this will work.

thanks zman i actually went thru both posts prior to today i wasent sure whether the strut could be put back in without removing the overdrive unit to pull the reaction pin out. ive heard it can be done but its a pain.. i was hoping for less work time wise but seperating the 2 really doesnt seem like a big deal.

ok got the strut back in seems like it will work but what is the secret to getting the overdrive unit back in.. man i cant win with this thing.. seems i need the special spline tool to get this back in any way of lineing this up another way. i see in the manual the part number for the tool but haven't been able to actually locate one.
