Default build my own relay box

I'm wanting to build my own relay box with 5 or 6 relays for all of my offroad lights.

very similiar to this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmoaKsfwug4

I'm wondering if anybody has a wiring diagram for such thing. And if I can run just one ground and positive wires between 5 or 6 relays then ground the 1 wire and run the the positive wire to a inline fuse and to the battery. Maybe someone could help make a wire diagram for me on how to correctly do this.

thank you in advance for any and all input

Do you want one switch to control ALL the relays? Or do you want them individually switched?

individually switched. I want to just have less wires going every where and less wires hooked up to the battery.

You can have all of the power and ground for the relays in parallel, but you will want to fuse each relay individually, or else you will need a fuse large enough for all 5 of your relays and whatever wires you choose to use for each one, when you need to have a small enough fuse to protect the weakest link in your wiring (to prevent fire).

almost sounds like you need a 2nd PDC maybe out of an older dodge vehicle.
this one came out of a 94 Plymouth voyager.

13 in total i have 4 up in front of the truck 5 up top on the headache rack facing forward plus 2 facing backwards then two on my back bumper so 13. 9 of the lights are 130watt Kc daylighters so 130watts x 9 = 1170 watts then the other 4 are 100 watts =400 watts

so 1170 watts + 400 watts = 1570 total watts

at most i only ever use is two lights since I still have the stock alternator. I will be doing a duel battery setup this summer along with my winch. just want the install to be as clean as possible I don't want a ton of wiring all over the engine bay.

@grox thats about what I want to do just need help with a wiring diagram for this.

@crazzywolfie would that be easier?

You will do well to look for a home made dual fan electric conversion sire set up then simply use it for lights instead. I posted one a while back, search by my name & go back at least 6 months. It is very detailed. As for the box, I used an outlet box made for 3 110 volt wall switches from home depot. I made a waterproof lid from another part of a similar box then made a silicone seal for it that is removable (ask me how) then used common bees wax around the wires going into the box. It stays bone dry inside. I can not say it looks super cool, but it functions all the way through a sloppy Iowa winter.

now that i know you are running 1570watts of stuff i would have to say no. would most likely have to replace all the wires with heavier wires.

...or put a Honda generator in the bed.....That's a lot of load on your alternator.
