Default Oil Change with Lucas Oil Stabilizer?

Going to be doing my summer oil change here next weekend, and I have heard some people on here talk about using 4 Quarts 10w30 and substituting the last Quart with 1 Quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer: http://www.lucasoil.com/products/dis...id=25&loc=show

is this a good practice? I have never used it before, but my engine is getting up there in miles (155k), and I was curious.

Have any of you ever used the product?

I didn't like it, too thick.... took to long for pressure to come up on a cold engine......

I use it. Not only in my ram, but my f350, and my 4 banger ranger. I swear by it!

Ive used it years ago... it never hurt anything... supposedly it counteracts the detergents in the oil in that it helps the oil actually stick to the metal parts... I remember them showing this in the glass case full of turning gears....
It helped reduce the amount of oil my old Lincoln town car consumed but I was more impressed with the engine restore and also the risoline compression restore stuff...
I remember using the slick 50 when it had teflon back in the day.. it really made my oil pressure jump up much faster but they removed the teflon because it had negative effects on other engine components...

Ah..so the general consensus on the Lucas is a big "NO" then, haha.

Is there another additive you could recommend? or just stick with 5 Quarts of oil?

Thank you for the advice guys!

I have used lucas oil every oil change except winter months. Have been doing it since I bought the truck in 2008. When i did my roller rockers in 2010, the engine looked brand new clean. WHen I posted pics, people thought I put new heads on the vehicle.

But then again, that could be because I use synthetic oil.

Just get whatever synthetic oil they have on sale. I think autozone has a special on mobil 1 oil and mobil 1 filter. They are good filters.

I am starting to think that the FILTER is more important than the oil. If you have a really good filter, and change the oil every 3K miles, you will not have any problems.

Just stick with oil. Some of the additive packages in the "other" stuff, is actually counter-productive when combined with the additives already IN the oil.

Lucas is great but only when it's needed? Do you have any leaks, seeps, ticks, or tapping? If so then it will help with that. I add .5 qt in
Most of my oil changes just to help the oil cling better.
