Default 1999 dodge 1500 4x4 differential slopp

I replaced axle bearings, and i still have side to side play. Could this be differential bearings ? if so, is there any thing i need to know before i pull it out and replace them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where is your slop? Out at the end of the axle?

IF, we are talking about the rear, some play is normal. Just depends on how much.

no, the slop is inside the carrier, where the axle rides. could this be the shims or gears. it makes a rattle like bad u-joints when letting off the throttle.

As in, the axle rattles around inside the side gear? If that's the case, I would seriously consider replacing the axles AND the side gears. (although, I think spiders come as a set of 4......)
